Answer
The Education Authority (EA) working with my Department and school leaders, is committed to ensuring that there continues to be appropriate ventilation in schools in line with the latest public health guidance and advice from the Health and Safety Executive. Guidance in relation to ventilation was issued to all schools on 7 December 2021.
Should it be proven that natural ventilation is deficient within a school, this should in the first instance be reported to the EA Maintenance helpdesk. The EA will undertake remedial works to resolve the issue which may include repair or replacement of windows or installation of an air ventilation system.
