AQW 29944/22-27 Written question to the Minister for Infrastructure
To ask the Minister for Infrastructure, of the total budget set aside for construction of the A5 Western Transport Corridor scheme during the 2025-26; and 2026-27 financial years, to detail what capacity there is to allocate some of this budget over that two-year period to road safety messaging.

Answer
The budget for the A5 scheme in the 2025-26 financial year is an Executive Flagship project, as such any need to surrender budget in 2025-26 will need to be made to the Executive for re-prioritisation.
I am carefully considering the implications of the judgement in the A5 case and it is too early to identify the budgetary implications of the ruling. My priority is to find the right solution that sees the A5 built as quickly as I can so that no more lives are lost.
