Answer
Asthma is one of the disease registers in the Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF); QOF disease prevalence data is published annually and the Asthma register contains the number of patients with asthma, excluding those who have had no prescription for asthma-related drugs in the last 12 months. As at 31st March 2022, there were 126,442 people on the Asthma register for Northern Ireland. QOF disease prevalence data is also available and published at GP Federation level; at 31st March 2022, there were 7,237 people on the Asthma register for the East Belfast GP Federation.
