Answer

The Renewable Electricity Generation Bill was introduced to the Assembly on 30 June 2026 and passed its Second Stage on 8 September 2026. The Bill now stands referred to the Economy Committee for consideration.

The focus for my Department, in terms of the Bill, is therefore supporting its progress through the Assembly, including the Committee's scrutiny process.

In parallel, officials are continuing the work required to implementation of the Renewable Electricity Price Guarantee scheme, including development of subordinate legislation and detailed operational arrangements.
