To ask the Minister for Infrastructure, pursuant to AQW 20976/22-27, (i) for an update on the removal of the C1 licensing requirement for electric vans; (ii) to detail a timeline for the introduction of its removal; and (iii) whether its removal will be completed by summer 2026.

In response to your questions:
My officials have been working on the drafting of the public consultation required as a first step in this process. It is hoped that the consultation will launch in the coming weeks.
At this stage it is not possible to give an exact timeline for the process.
It is my hope that, subject to the outcome of the public consultation, the necessary legislative amendments will be made by summer 2026.
