Answer
No single policy area of DfI has responsibility for the content of the Highway Code. Rather, a review of the Code is commissioned periodically, and individual policy areas are asked to ensure that content relating to their area remains accurate. The Code is then updated as necessary, based on responses received.
The most recent review was commissioned in November 2023, following the substantive update to the Highway Code in GB in 2022. Policy areas were asked to consider the content of the Code and advise whether any amendment was required. The responses received resulted in no significant adjustments to the published version of our Highway Code.
